This is a video walkthrough of the design process for creating a logo for Service Pros 4 Hire.
About Service Pros 4 Hire
Service Pros 4 Hire has an extensive database of facility managers and property managers throughout the Greater Philadelphia area.
They have the ability to get first appointments with those managers, and this is very helpful to companies selling into these facilities for window cleaning, landscaping, linen cleaning, and so forth.
Step 1: Figure Out the Design Style the Client Prefers
When we first met with Service Pros 4 Hire, we collected a few initial words about what they might be thinking about from a design perspective, so we built two mood boards.
And since I showed you the initial website, you can already guess where we're going, which mood board they chose, and this is the one they chose.
Step 2: Pinpoint Key Elements
Then to help us start thinking about what might we do with this logo, we just started breaking down ideas of what it might be about, attraction and hook, using the letter S, sort of hinting at dollar signs or magnets, maybe these are horseshoes, connecting the dots.
If you have a database of facility managers, you can get people in the door. Maybe you're connecting the dots.
First appointments are the start of the sales funnel, so maybe we'll make a visual reference to that. It's about a network of people. It's about a path, starting at one point and closing with a sale. It's about just people. It's about ROI, and return on investment.
So these are all just different pencil sketches we did, just exploring what we might be talking about, nothing hard set.
And as we moved forward, we decided to focus on the two concepts of the network and ROI.
Step 3: Decide on the Final Elements
We felt that those were the stronger issues. Those are the compelling points for if you're the CEO of a window cleaning company; what are you going to worry about?
You want to know that Service Pros 4 Hires has an extensive network, and you want to know they can return on your investment. So we decided to focus there, which led to us thinking of that some more.
So here is property management and growth. This top option here is facilities—they're these small office warehouses, including up to high rises or small high rises, let's say. Okay, we've got the skyline, and we also have it very specifically organized, so it looks like a bar chart.
So, we're taking two ideas and merging them into one. And in the bottom option, we took the visuals, the dots that we were liking, and this idea of connecting dots and also trying to hint at growth. So that's why we built an S out of the dots, but then we very specifically organized the dots to show growth over time.
