Business Challenge

Distill 100s of Data Points into One Webpage, Impress Board of Directors

Dozens of interviews and hundreds of data points were collected for a significant research project performed by our client, McCabe Message Partners’ on behalf of The American Board for Certification Orthotics, Prosthetics & Pedorthics (ABCOP).

McCabe’s research will inform a total shift in ABCOP’s messaging and communications strategy to target a new generation of students.

The mass of data in a report would be too much to hand to the busy Board of Directors. McCabe wanted to distill the research into a compelling form to support their communications strategy in the upcoming years.

McCabe partnered with Bright Orange Thread to create a webpage to present the research, anchor their communications strategy, and impress the board.

McCabe shared results in a report, but people scan a webpage differently than they read a report. On the web, the information from McCabe’s report needed to be more scannable, more bite-sized.

Our Solution

Help Research Come to Life with Interactive Website

McCabe condensed qualitative and quantitative data into key takeaways and a longer print report. We worked with them to highlight the essential statistics of the report and turn it into an attractive and easy-to-read webpage.

Put the most important information first.

To ensure the report flowed as a webpage, we worked to organize information so that the most important pieces always came first.

To improve scannability, we:

  • Grouped like information together.
  • Broke long sections into shorter content using Chunkify!
  • Put key points first by frontloading statistics.

Strategic design enhances the key points.

Design elements work together to make the content easier to read, more scannable, and engaging.

A simple color palette blocks related information together and helps statistics jump out without overcrowding information. Strategic stock photography selection shows the target audience and the profession that the report is focused on—creating a message match from the research to the webpage.

Impact

Design Puts Spotlight on Strategy. Wins Board Approval.

The web page helps the board effortlessly connect main data points and takeaways to the strategy McCabe proposed. They understand the research without having to read through massive amounts of data.

The one-page website report is now an anchor point for McCabe and the ABCOP Board to reference as they execute new communications strategies.
