Is AI Revving or Driving Marketing?

You’d never just toss your kid the car keys and say, “Figure it out.

The car is too powerful. The potential for mistakes is too great, and the consequences? Far too costly.

Instead, you teach them, and you set them up for success.

You start them off in an empty back parking lot where you show them the basics, then mutter a prayer before you let them sit in the driver’s seat.

You make sure they’re trained before they hit the open road alone.

So many people tell stories about the amazing emails and blog posts AI has given them. They are blown away by the quality.

But here’s the thing: that awe is almost always from someone who isn’t an expert in the craft.

We’re impressed by the head start AI can give us, but we see the dangers. We spot the hallucinations.

The output is a starting point, not the final destination.

You don’t let your kid’s excitement of revving the engine take them down the highway; it’s why you started in the parking lot.

Just like you wouldn’t let your kid drive untrained, you can’t expect to get optimal marketing results from an untrained AI.
