It can’t always be more effort.

Yes, it’s a cliche.

However, that doesn’t mean the phrase “Work smarter, not harder” isn’t founded on truth and proven with practice.

When it comes to marketing, the first thought is often “more.”

More emails. More blog posts. More campaigns.

That’s perfectly logical, and sometimes, that extra hard work is exactly what’s needed.

But, it isn’t always about more effort.

Sometimes, it’s about being smarter.

Being smarter means looking back at your current marketing and asking, “Is it compelling?”

Being compelling means 1+1=3.

It means reshaping familiar ideas by breathing new energy into them to capture attention.

1+1= 2 is the same old thing everyone else is doing.

The magic of 1 + 1 = 3 is finding that fresh language that creates something new and surprising.

Think about the phrase “brain fart.” Individually, “brain” and “fart” are just words.

Combined, they create a new, humorous, and less painful way to say “I made an oopsie.”So, ask yourself: Is your marketing fresh?
